The Brief

Turning a Brand into a Charging Experience

By 2022 Be.EV had already established itself as one of the UK’s fastest-growing charge point operators, but the next stage of growth required a step change in how charging environments were designed and delivered. The ambition was not only to add more chargers but to build sites that reflected the Be.EV brand, delivered a premium user experience, and set a new benchmark for accessibility.

To achieve this, Be.EV needed a partner who could translate a refreshed brand into real-world charging spaces, moving from logos and guidelines on paper to fully realised physical environments. The challenge was to create a turnkey delivery methodology that would lock in cost certainty, speed of deployment and consistent quality across an expanding estate.

The brief also included testing new site concepts such as alternative bay marking systems, canopy designs, and signage strategies that would make Be.EV hubs instantly recognisable. This meant developing pilot sites, trialling colourways and layouts in situ, and securing physical sign-off from stakeholders before scaling the approach nationwide.

Ultimately, the goal was to ensure every new Be.EV site became more than just a place to plug in, it had to be a branded, accessible, safe and welcoming environment that encouraged repeat visits, increased dwell time, and built long-term driver trust.

The Output: Demonstrating the Future of Be.EV Sites

To turn the new Be.EV brand into a physical charging experience, Formula Space produced a complete demonstration environment at our Canterbury headquarters. This live demo brought together every element of the site design in one place including full canopy installation, bay marking strategies, signage systems, crash protection, and lighting, allowing stakeholders to walk the space, experience the design in context, and provide real-world feedback before rollout.

This approach ensured that every decision, from colour infill to canopy detailing, was validated in a physical environment rather than on paper alone. The demonstration hub became a key sign-off stage, reducing risk, speeding up approvals, and giving Be.EV confidence that their brand would be delivered consistently across every site.

With validation secured, the first wave of new sites was delivered using the agreed design language, and flagship hubs quickly entered phase two. The process not only safeguarded Be.EV’s brand integrity but also established a repeatable model for scaling premium, accessible, and engaging charging environments across the UK network.”

Be.EV Today: From Underdog to Market Leaders

Scaling to 700 chargers with larger hubs, stronger utilisation and industry recognition.

By 2024 Be.EV had transformed from an ambitious challenger into one of the UK’s leading charge point operators. The network had grown to more than 700 chargers nationwide, supported by a programme of larger, multi-bay hubs designed with accessibility and user experience at the forefront.

Utilisation rates now sit above the UK average, proving that the investment in site design and consistent brand execution directly translates into driver adoption. Be.EV’s approach has been recognised across the industry, with the network ranked as the #4 best in the UK in 2024.

Flagship locations are continuing to evolve, introducing non-core revenue streams, improved community integration, and next-level user experience features. What began as a focus on translating brand into site design has matured into a scalable, repeatable methodology that underpins Be.EV’s growth strategy for the years ahead.
