Fast-tracked collaboration marks first OEM partnership for CableGuard theft-deterrent solution.
Formula Space is pleased to announce that its industry-leading cable theft deterrent, CableGuard™, has been officially approved for use by Kempower following a successful joint testing partnership marking the first formal collaboration between Formula Space and an EV charger OEM.
Kempower, a global leader in providing user-friendly and dependable DC fast-charging solutions for all electric vehicles, partnered closely with Formula Space on the product specification to ensure full compatibility with the chargers; certifying that CableGuard™ is compatible with Kempower charger configurations for public charging sites. As part of this collaboration, Kempower provided technical insight and an expedited service to fast-track CableGuard’s approval, enabling a rapid rollout and peace of mind for charge point operators. This involved extensive testing and assessment at their factory laboratory.

CableGuard™ was developed to address the rising issue of EV charger cable theft, an issue that has been costing the EV charging industry not only in terms of revenue, but trust in the infrastructure we are working tirelessly to build. CableGuard™ offers robust protection with negligible impact on the end-user experience or hardware functionality.
Development of the CableGuard™ began in September last year, with Kempower emerging as an active supporter early in the process. Their engineering team ensuring that the product meets the high standards required to maintain warranty protection, such as checking for the effects on cable harmonics, cooling and structural integrity.
The swift approval from Kempower will allow CPOs to implement CableGuard protection on many of their sites safe in the knowledge that their warranty will not be affected, getting sites secured quicker.

CableGuard™ is already being rolled out to hundreds of sites across the UK and Europe, protecting the vital EV infrastructure with further deployments expected through Q2 and Q3 2025.
