Turning painted bays into working assets

Why bay marking matters

A charging bay is not just a rectangle of paint. It shapes how drivers move through the site, who uses your chargers and how safe the space feels. It also gives you the opportunity to express your brand on the ground. Good line marking supports higher utilisation, fewer blocked bays and a smoother first visit for new EV drivers.

Keep chargers available
Clear bay separation helps keep chargers free, guides drivers to the right hardware for their vehicle and supports strong brand presence at the point of use.

Guide users from arrival to plug-in
Marked approach lanes, turning areas and pedestrian walkways reduce hesitation and help drivers understand the flow of the site.

Support accessibility goals
Layouts that align with PAS 1899 guidance and ChargeSafe principles help deliver accessible, trusted sites for all drivers.

Work with your crash protection and signage
Bay & line marking is coordinated with bollards, wheel stops, foundations and signage so the whole space feels intentional, not pieced together.

How We Deliver

A bay marking process built for EV deployment

  • Step

    Create - Design the standard

    • Begining with a full design consultation, reviewing your brand, accessibility needs and operational goals.

Our team develops detailed bay marking layouts, colour specifications and ground-level 3D visuals so you can see exactly how the site will look and function.

Once approved, this design becomes the benchmark for your estate, ensuring every future site stays consistent, on brand and up to spec.

  • Step

    Deliver – install with precision

    • Our installation teams operate nationwide and schedule works to align seamlessly with groundworks, charger delivery and commissioning dates.

Whether the site is in a city centre or the farthest corner of the UK, we deliver on time and with a clear focus on safety.

Every bay, walkway and buffer zone is set out with measured accuracy, using high quality materials and best practice application methods to ensure a reliable, durable finish from day one.

  • Step

    Sustain – built for longevity

    • Bay marking designed to last. We use proven bay marking techniques, durable coatings and strict colour standards to maintain accuracy and visibility for as long as possible.

Your bay marking is supported by a Formula Space warranty and guided by best practice advice on care and maintenance, helping each site remain consistent, compliant and in line with your brand as your estate continues to grow.

Bay Marking - Material Comparison

Different sites demand different levels of performance. From cost-effective coatings to long-life, high-visibility systems, our bay marking options give you the flexibility to match your durability needs, traffic levels and brand standards without compromise.

Epoxy Paint

A solid, cost-effective paint system for standard EV bays. Suitable for sites with lighter traffic and shorter refresh cycles.

  • 12-18 months before visible wear
  • Good adhesion to most surfaces
  • Clean colour definition for standard bays
  • Ideal for small sites and lighter usage patterns
  • A practical option when budgets are tight
  • Least durable coating
  • Poorer performance on older surfaces
  • Longest dry time
  • Stencil design does mean logo is broken to ensure letter infill sections

Thermoplastic

A durable, heat-applied marking system designed for higher traffic locations. Offers stronger wear resistance and better long-term visibility compared to epoxy paints.

  • 2.5-3 years before visible wear
  • Logos and wording created with very clean and neat edges with consistent finish
  • Good adhesion with surface primer applied prior to installation
  • Any shape can be created to create consistent branding
  • Fast return to use after application
  • Material does not expand resulting in poor adhesion to expanding surfaces, such as block paving
  • Limited range of colour options compared to MMA
  • Colours susceptible to UV exposure
